2024 Warwickshire Junior Championship Results

The 2024 Warwickshire Junior Championship was held at Tudor Grange Academy Kingshurst in Birmingham. 96 players participated. The tournament features different age groups from the Junior Grand Prix series, and is closed to Warwickshire-eligible children. 2024 Birmingham Open Results

The first of three legs in the 2024/25 Warwickshire Championships was held at King Edward VI Five Ways School in Bartley Green, Birmingham. 114 players participated. The 2023/24 Warwickshire Youth Grand Prix was contested over five tournaments held throughout the academic year: Sunday, 8th October, 2023 – Birmingham Junior Open at King Edward VI Five Ways SchoolSunday, 3rd December, 2023 – Warwickshire Junior Championship at Meadow Park School, CoventrySaturday, 20th January, 2024 – Warwick Junior Open at Warwick Preparatory SchoolSaturday, 23rd March, 2024 – Birmingham Junior Open at King Edward VI Five Ways SchoolSunday, 23rd June, 2024 – Solihull Junior Open at Light Hall School (results) Players were awarded points based on their results, and the top 4 scores across the five events determined the Champion. 2024 Leamington Open Results

The third and final leg of the 2023/24 Warwickshire Championships was held at Warwick Trident College in Leamington. 124 players participated. The Open was won by 13-year old Elis Dicen. In addition to winning the tournament, her FIDE rating passed 2000 after her Round 3 win, which secures her the Women’s Candidate Master title once the June 2024 FIDE rating list. She becomes Warwickshire’s newest FIDE titled player since Richard Weaving in 2017. The Warwickshire Championship was won by 18-year old Finlay Bowcott-Terry, whose combined score of 8½ points from Coventry and Leamington put him a point ahead of Matthew Harborne in the standings. Elis Dicen won the Warwickshire Women’s Championship for the second time. The final Championship standings can be found here.
