Death of Keith Escott

We regret to announce the death of Keith Escott at the age of 76. He was a long-time supporter of Warwickshire Chess Association, partly as a player in over-the-board competitions, but primary as our Secretary for Correspondence Chess. In that post he not only ran Warwickshire teams in national competitions, but also organised an annual county Correspondence Championship. Neither our existing records, nor the memory of any present officials, show when he first took that post on, but he held it for at least the better part of half a century, relinquishing it only when there was no longer sufficient interest to justify his continuing. He was also heavily involved with the organisation of correspondence chess at a national level.
